Littlefield is the county seat of Lamb County. The city has a total area of 5.99 square miles, and a population of 6,507 as of the 2000 census. Estimates in 2007 showed the population to be 6,075.


The median household income in 2000 was $26,271 and was estimated in 2007 to be $31,200.


The median resident age is 35.8 years and there are an average of 2.6 people per household.

Littlefield is home to the coporate headquarters of Lowe's Pay and Save, one of the largest growing grocery store chains in the southwest. Littlefield currently has 2 biodiesel plants, one in operation and one under construction.

Littlefield is home to the Littlefield Independent School District, a K-12 school district with a Primary, Elementary, Junior High, and High School.
