Location and Climate

 

Littlefield is located in the Texas Panhandle at the intersection of U.S. Highway 84 and 385, and Ranch Road 54. The city is located 38 miles northwest of Lubbock and 24 miles north of Levelland. Littlefield has a total area of 5.99 square miles, none of which is covered with water. It is located in the Central Standard Time Zone at an elevation of 3,556 feet above sea level.


Littlefield plays host to a mild, semi-arid climate. Temperatures have an average maximum of 92°F in July and an average minimum of 23 °F in January. The record high temperature was recorded as 114° in 1994, and the record low temperature was -6° in 1979. The average rainfall is 18 inches per year, and average snowfall is 10 inches per year. On average, the majority of rainfall is received in June.
