Littlefield Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is a city owned and operated ambulance service that was organized in September of 1987. Its mission is to provide the best in pre-hospital care at the lowest taxpayer burden. The combination service of paid staff and volunteers is comprised of ten paramedics, two intermediates, and seven EMT-basics, and is supported by mobile equipment consisting of three type I ambulances licensed by the Texas Department of State Health and Human Services as mobile intensive care capabe and one four-wheel drive first responder unit.
Littlefield EMS serves a population of nearly 8,000 people covering 350 square miles in the southeastern part of Lamb County and the northern part of Hockley County. Call volume average 1,350 calls for service per year incliding scene calls and emergency transports from the local level-four hospital into tertiary care centers in Lubbock. Littlefield EMS is the primary provider for the cities of Littlefield, Spae, Fieldton, and Anton and provides daytime coverage for the city of Amherst. It also acts as paramedic back-up for Sudan and Amherst.
