Councilman Van Ashley

Councilman Van Ashley passed away Friday, March 5, 2010. His funeral will be at the First Baptist Church, located at 400 E. 6th Street in Littlefield, on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 1:00pm.

Councilman Ashley was originally elected in April 1987. In addition to serving the City of Littlefield as Councilman and Mayor Pro-Tem, he served as President of the South Plains Association of Governments (SPAG) and on the Texas Municipal League (TML) Board of Directors. He also served on many other boards and committees locally, regionally, and statewide.

He received the TML Leadership Institue award in 1999, as well as many other awards and commendations during his time on the Littlefield City Council.

Van provided outstanding leadership to his community, district, and region. His leadership and service will be greatly missed.
